Library Director - Manteno PLD

The Manteno Public Library District, Manteno, IL is seeking to fill the open position of Library Director.  Our Library serves the diverse needs of the 12,440 population, and employs an experienced staff of 16.  The annual circulation is 115,633.  Our Library is known for its programs, excellent staff, interaction with the schools and Village administration, and quality service. This position requires a strong combination of leadership and administration skill.  The Director is responsible to:

  • Employ, develop, train and maintain an excellent support staff
  • Prepare, control, implement and manage the annual budget
  • Communicate effectively with the staff, the Board, local civic and business organizations,  and schools
  • Actively pursue grants and other fund raising opportunities
  • Understand all Library operations including application of technology

An MLS from an ALA accredited school is preferred, or a Bachelors Degree with the intentions of obtaining an MLS Degree from an ALA accredited school within 5 years.  A minimum of 5 years public library experience with 3 years supervisory experience is recommended.  Salary range is $32,000-$40,000, with a generous benefit package.
