Is it hot enough for you yet? July is zooming along for IHLS staff and the toasty weather has kept us all busy. We are adjusting to the sheer size of our service area and utilizing electronic methods to meet in groups large and small. Staff are refining administrative processes and looking at our service priorities from a higher perspective.
The IHLS Board of Directors will meet Tuesday, July 26th in Carterville. Agenda and meeting documents are now available. We hope to see you there!
WebJunction Illinois, an IHLS grant project made possible by the Illinois State Library, is a terrific resource for library staff and board members. The dynamic, information-filled site provides articles of interest to users on topics such as guiding patrons to better jobs, and to a myriad of webinars and online courses. (Please note: you must be logged in to view and utilize the course catalog, so be sure to create an account or use your current account!) A recently announced webinar of note is a free 2-day program on Trends in Library Training and Learning.
Take a look at Grants for Illinois Libraries. This growing database includes tips for grant searchers, and allows for member library contribution. We hope you will find it to be a helpful tool in your fundraising efforts! There is also a link to the database on the right side of our web site.
A recent addition to the IHLS web site is the Library News area. Here we will post timely information about IHLS events and updates about our members. Check out the recent improvements at the Columbia Public Library, and please let us know what is going on in your library so we may share with others!
If you have checked LibraryLearning (L2) this month, you likely noticed we now have the ability to easily see all the events happening at our four locations by selecting Illinois Heartland Library System as an event sponsor. If you are located in the southern part of IHLS and would like to meet with your colleagues and discuss Reader's Advisory services, this may be the interest group for you!
Have a great weekend!
