Moving Forward TOGETHER

August 28, 2012

IHLS Holiday Closing
All IHLS offices will be closed in observance of Labor Day on Monday, September 3, 2012. Delivery and Talking Book Services will not be provided. Additional routes may run on Tuesday to compensate for volume.

August IHLS Board Meeting
The next IHLS Board meeting is Tuesday, August 28, 2012.  IHLS Board meetings will be available via videoconferencing at each of our four offices as well as the Illinois State Library.  If you are not able to join us in Effingham, perhaps one of these other locations will suffice.  When available, you will find the August agenda and board packet here.

New IHLS Phone System
The IHLS move to a new phone system will be completed today and then the four IHLS offices will all be on the same phone system.  This means you will be able to call a staff member in Champaign and they will be able to transfer you to a staff member in Edwardsville.  The new staff phone extensions are listed on the IHLS website.

IPLAR and ILLINET Survey Update
The Office of the Secretary of State/Illinois State Library has selected Counting Opinions as a result of the procurement process to collect and maintain data for the Illinois Public Library Annual Report (IPLAR) and the Illinois Library and Information Network (ILLINET) surveys.  More information has been posted on the IHLS website.

Public Library Per Capita Grant Application Available
Public libraries may now apply for FY2013 Illinois Public Library Per Capita and Equalization Aid Grants. Applications are available at http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/library/grants/plpc_equalization.html and due by October 15. For questions, please call 800-665-5576, ext. 1, or email isl_grants@ilsos.net.

Public Per Capita Requirements
For the FY2013 Per Capita Grant libraries are required to obtain a Data Universal Numbering System Number (DUNS#). If your library does not have a DUNS#, you will need to obtain one. It is a simple process and can be done over the phone in about 10 minutes.  Information on a DUNS# can be found at this web site http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/omb/grants/duns_num_guide.pdf. Instructions on how to obtain a number and the information you will need to have on hand are given on this site.  Not certain if you already have a DUNS#?  Find out at the above link. For additional information or help, please contact the Illinois State Library.
