Managing ILL Policies and Fees

WorldShare ILL Tip of the Week: Managing ILL Policies and Fees

OCLC WorldShare® Interlibrary Loan displays your ILL fee range based on what you have defined in the OCLC® Policies Directory.  Accurate fee information assists you and other libraries in completing interlibrary loans. To make sure your fees are as clear as possible, update your policies in the Policies Directory.

To update your ILL fees and policies, log in to the OCLC Policies Directory and update your library’s information under the Policies tab.  Remember to create multiple policies if you have different fees for different groups or types of libraries (for example, free for in state libraries, but charge for out of state).

For further information, please see the Policies Directory quick reference.

Public Libraries: Non-Resident Fee Survey Now Available

IHLS is required to maintain a list on the IHLS website of non-resident program information from IHLS public libraries and to indicate whether or not a library participates in the non-resident fee program and what that fee is.  Each year IHLS asks all IHLS public libraries for this information.  This information is being gathered by a survey found at this link  The deadline for completion of the survey is June 15, 2014

Each public library board is required to take action each year on whether to participate in the non-resident program and to determine the fee for non-resident cards.  Additional information on the non-resident fee program can be found on the Illinois State Library website.

Board candidate write-in seats

Attention IHLS members:

Voters will be given the opportunity to write in candidates for 2 open seats in this year’s election for the Illinois Heartland Library System Board of Directors

The nomination process for candidates closed on February 15. At that time, there were no candidates for one of the open public library trustee seats and no candidates for the open seat for special libraries.

When you receive your ballots on March 15, you will be given a space where you can write in the name of a person who is eligible and willing to serve in the special seat and in the public library trustee seat. The person with the most write-in votes will be the winner.

The IHLS Nominating Committee reserves the right to make sure that all write-in candidates are eligible and willing to serve.

If no eligible winner steps forward or is found through the write-in process, any empty seat will be filled with an appointee by the IHLS Board president, as approved by the full IHLS Board.

The Nominating Committee is hoping that, by this advanced notice, you will be better prepared when you receive your ballot and begin voting.
