Library Director - Argenta-Oreana Public Library District

The Argenta-Oreana Public Library District is seeking a Library Director. This highly responsible supervisory position plans, organizes and directs all activities related to the administration and operation of the library district under the direction of the Library Board of Trustees.  The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Library Assistant - Limestone Township Library (Kankakee)

The Limestone Township Library is looking for a friendly, detail-oriented individual with strong leadership skills who is dedicated to providing excellent customer service as a Library Assistant. Under the administration of the Library Director, the Library Assistant is responsible for the management of overdue materials; performs tasks relating to circulating library materials and registering users; and will assume the majority of the library’s technical service processing operations within one year of hire, including obtaining the Illinois Statewide Cataloging Standards barcode certification, if necessary (training may be provided). The Library Assistant acts as the Senior Staff Member in Charge, and is responsible for managing and supervising the library in the absence of the Library Director, as well as representing the library at area library meetings and functions. The Library Assistant deals responsibly with patron problems and emergencies, maintaining a pleasant and safe work environment.

LLSAP Service Manager - PrairieCat (Northern Illinois)

Position Description

We seek a proven leader to manage the PrairieCat library consortium. In this exciting and challenging position, you’ll lead a large group of libraries committed to cooperation, working in collaboration with staff, member libraries, and other organizations. You’ll lead staff in a highly detail-oriented workplace, while demonstrating a big-picture vision for library resource sharing. You’ll oversee the development and administration of the Sierra integrated library system. Core job functions include supervision of organizational operations and development, budget administration, project management, hardware and software maintenance, database administration, marketing, training, and statistical reporting.

 This position will be located in northern Illinois with responsibility for staff in Bolingbrook, Coal Valley, and Rockford. Frequent travel within the PrairieCat service area (a broad area from Kankakee to the Quad Cities to Galena), regular presence at the Bolingbrook, Burr Ridge, Coal Valley, and Rockford service centers, and occasional travel to other RAILS locations and statewide.

 You’ll spend most of your time with PrairieCat staff and members, but you’ll also have frequent contact and collaboration with staff in all areas of the RAILS organization. You’ll also spend a lot of time in member libraries, serving a rich landscape of urban, suburban, and rural communities.

Library Associate (Adult Services) - Champaign Public Library

Help create a customer friendly atmosphere in the busy Adult Services Department at our Main Library. Duties include helping teens and adults use the library, assisting with computer use, providing one-on-one instruction on a variety of technology topics, suggesting reading materials to teens and adults, and supporting other department staff with collection management, interlibrary loan, home delivery, and other clerical tasks.
