LLSAPs in the Heartland

Local Library System Automation Projects (LLSAPs) are a benefit to members of Library Systems in Illinois.  Within the Illinois Heartland Library System, four automation consortia are working together toward a common, shared platform.  Together, the SILNET (Carterville), LINC (Champaign), Decatur LLSAP, and GateNet (Edwardsville) have more in common than you may realize!

Moving Forward Together

Is it hot enough for you yet?  July is zooming along for IHLS staff and the toasty weather has kept us all busy.  We are adjusting to the sheer size of our service area and utilizing electronic methods to meet in groups large and small.  Staff are refining administrative processes and looking at our service priorities from a higher perspective.

The IHLS Board of Directors will meet Tuesday, July 26th in Carterville.  Agenda and meeting documents are now available.  We hope to see you there!

Moving Forward Together

This is the 8th official day of the Illinois Heartland Library System, and it has been a busy week.  The first meeting of the IHLS Board was held on July 5, 2011.  Congratulations to Karen Bounds - President, Joan Rhoades - Vice President, Janet Hasten - Secretary, and Nina Wunderlich - Treasurer who were elected to these offices.  The 15-member IHLS board will meet again on July 26, 4:30 pm, at the Carterville location, and we encourage you to attend.  At the July 5 board meeting resolutions for several policies, previously passed by the Transition Board, were approved by the new Board.  There is much work to be done by the new Board of Directors who are wholly committed to supporting resource-sharing and membership involvement.

Welcome to the Illinois Heartland Library System

As we mark the first day of the Illinois Heartland Library System’s existence, it is important to communicate with our membership.  As we work together during the next several months, it is communication that will be our strongest tool.

You'll see plenty of changes over the next several weeks and months.  You'll see staff e-mails that end in "" and when you make a phone call the voice on the other end might say something like "Illinois Heartland Library System, Decatur Office."  Four separate websites will go away and be replaced with one and the delivery vans will be part of the Illinois Heartland fleet.
