Illinois Heartland Library System manages a fleet of vehicles to transport books and other materials between IHLS hubs, member libraries, and the Reaching Across Illinois Libraries System. Once vehicles reach a certain mileage, the IHLS board approves them for retirement and surplus auction. The vehicles are then offered by auction to the libraries of Illinois and to the Illinois State Library for library business use. If the vehicles have not sold at the end of the auction period, they are then offered for sale at auction to members of the public (which may include library staff for personal use).

The minimum bid values were calculated as 75% of Kelley Blue Book's private-sale value for good-condition vehicles as of the date the vehicles were surplused. All vehicle(s) have been regularly maintained. Any logos/decals will be removed before pickup, and vehicle(s) are otherwise sold as-is. No warranty is given or implied. Vehicle Inspection Appointments.

You may inspect the vehicle(s) by appointment during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. To schedule an appointment or request additional information or photographs, please contact the Delivery Manager/Coordinator for the hub where the vehicle you are interested in is located.

Bidding

The minimum bid value has been calculated at 75% of Kelley Blue Book's private-sale value for good condition.

To bid on a vehicle, you must first create a 32auctions account. Please refer to the "Create An Account" page on the auction website for assistance with setting up an account.

Payment and Pickup

Purchases must be paid for and picked up by the date noted on the relevant auction listing. Payment types accepted include Cash, Company Check, or Money Order. Personal checks will not be accepted.

All vehicles are located at Illinois Heartland Library System–Carbondale (1840 Innovation Drive, 62903), Illinois Heartland Library System–Champaign (1704 Interstate Drive, 61822), or Illinois Heartland Library System–Edwardsville (6725 Goshen Road, 62025), as noted on the relevant auction listing, and must be picked up at that corresponding location.
