  • Job Description and Responsibilities

    This position will work closely with the Electronic Resources Librarian and Electronic Resources and eMedia Specialist to maintain the library’s electronic resources and their data throughout the electronic resources' lifecycle. This position will:

    assist the Electronic Resources Librarian in processing and maintaining purchases, renewals, and cancellations of electronic resources, including collecting and organizing licensing details.
    troubleshoot electronic resource problems for the ISU community
    perform electronic portfolio maintenance in the library’s unified resource management system and user authentication system
    maintain Milner Library’s electronic resources records, including the electronic resources Sharepoint page, Teams channel, and electronic management system.
    collect electronic resources use statistics, working closely with the Electronic Resources Librarian to collect data which accurately reflects use of our electronic resources, is reported for national standards, and informs financial decisions for library collection development.
  • Minimum Requirements to Apply

    Required Qualifications
    1. High school graduation or equivalent.
    2. Any combination totaling two years (24 months) from the following categories:
    (a) work experience in a library or equivalent setting.
    (b) college course work in any field as measured by the following conversion table:
    - 30 semester hours equals one year (12 months)
    - Associate's degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months
    - 90 semester hours equals two years (24 months)
    - Bachelor's degree (120 semester hours) equals three years (36 months)
    3. A total of two years (24 months) work experience in a library or equivalent setting performing progressively more responsible work consistent the next lower level of this series.

    Desired Qualifications
    1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external contacts.
    2. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, accuracy, analytical thinking, and ability to work well in a team environment.
    3. Ability to accept and adapt to changes in standards, rules, and procedures.
    4. Working knowledge of library computer systems, software, and reference tools. The most important of these are related to:
    - Electronic resource management (i.e., CORAL)
    - Our unified resource management system, Ex Libris' Alma
    - Our discovery system, Ex Libris' Primo VE
    - Our authentication platform, EBSCO's Open Athens
    5. Broad knowledge of office and administrative software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Sharepoint, email, etc.), high comfort level with Microsoft Excel, and prior experience with OCLC and subscription vendor-related tools like EBSCOnet.
    6. Familiarity with the OpenURL Standard, COUNTER standard for electronic resources statistics, and the electronic resources lifecycle.

    The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
