Job Description and Responsibilities
The Joliet Public Library seeks a patron-friendly and team-building leader to join our innovative Youth Services staff at the newly renovated, downtown Ottawa Street building. The spacious second-floor space includes areas for teens, toddlers, and everyone in between. There is even a small and safe activity center to keep little ones content while a caregiver quickly checks their email.
Joliet Public Library serves a diverse community of over 150,000 people at two sites and, in the near future, through an outreach vehicle. The ideal candidate is passionate about programming and outreach, enjoys providing top-notch service, promotes literacy to all ages, balances multi-tasking, and loves a flexible environment. The Assistant Manager oversees day-to-day operations of a 9 person team at the city-center location and collaborates with the outstanding Assistant Manager at Black Road. The chosen candidate reports to the Manager of Youth Services.
This is a 37.5 hour a week position that requires at least one evening a week and one weekend a month. Other evenings and weekends will be necessary for special events. A generous benefits package including 12 sick days, 25 vacation days, and 11 paid holidays are part of the offer. The salary is $54,600 per year. Enrollment in the valuable Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund is also included. Spanish-language skills are highly desirable.
