Job Description and Responsibilities
The Library Media / Instructional Technologist serves the school community alongside the Library Director by providing a resource-rich environment for student learning and knowledge creation. Integration of best practice for research, information fluency, and technology is achieved through collaboration and curriculum advancement to meet the needs of today’s learner. The Library Media / Instructional Technologist fosters positive relationships with students, staff and the greater school community to create a culture of lifelong learning, reading, and digital citizenship.
Task Title
Essential Job Functions
Library Supervision and Reading Culture
● Assists with library supervision before school and during assigned desk hours including direction of student workers.
● Checks books in and out, handles student and teacher book requests, and provides readers’ advisory as needed.
● Recommends purchases for books, media, and equipment and assists with the cataloging, maintenance, and inventory of all library materials.
● Promotes reading and library use as a life-long learning skill and encourages students to read widely, encompassing a variety of viewpoints and genres, and for a variety of purposes.
● Helps to maintain the online library catalog.
Programming
● Collaborates with the Library Director to help administer library programming and events throughout the school year.
Teaching
● Assists in teaching library orientation lessons
● Collaborates with classroom teachers to design and implement lessons and units of instruction with the purpose of integrating information literacy skills and technological competencies into all content areas
Technology
● Encourages the use of instructional technology to engage students, and to improve learning, providing 24/7 access to digital information resources for the entire learning community and providing opportunities for professional development for both students and staff.
● Provides technology support for students and staff, as appropriate
Committees
● Serves on committees related to library and district goals with special emphasis on AI, media/information literacy, etc.

Minimum Requirements to Apply
Qualifications
Required
● Education: Illinois PEL and License Endorsements: Library Information Specialist or Technology Specialist
Preferred
● Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience
● Current Google Educator Certification
● Master’s Degree in Library Science -
