  • About the Organization

The Anne West Lindsey district Library is located in Carterville, IL. We are a rural community in Southern Illinois, not far from the Shawnee Forest. The library is located a half a mile from downtown where the building is nestled in a residential area surrounded by a beautiful forest. In 2007, the library changed from a city library to a district library. Through a bequest by Anne West Lindsey, the library received 1.5 million dollars and 5.4 acres of land for the purpose of building a library for our community. This was Anne's dream and we are so thrilled to continue following her wishes today. Carterville is growing and the library along with it. In 2019, we added another 500 square feet and are already looking into adding on again.
