Join an award winning Library! The Schaumburg Township District Library is looking for a Collection Department Manager to join our team. We are looking for a Collection Management Librarian with at least 3 years of centralized collection management in a public library setting, with 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
This opportunity offers excellent benefits working 37.5 hours a week, with days, nights and weekends as needed. The annual salary range for this position is $67,470 - $80,964 based on skills and qualifications. Our schedules are based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed.

Position Summary:
The Collection Department Manager is responsible for managing the direction of the collection, developing plans, and ensuring the delivery of collection management services so that all Library collections meet or exceed patron expectations. The manager also identifies and responds to the community's needs by adopting new formats, initiatives, and services. The manager is responsible for collections, including selection, evaluation, and deselection, so materials meet or exceed patron expectations. The manager also provides guidance and supervision to Collection Librarians.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, plan, implement, and evaluate the Library’s collection and related goals and processes, emphasizing continual improvement of efficiencies, cost management, and patron ease of use.
Envision, plan, and execute collection changes based on usage, trends, and community interest in collaboration with other departments and staff.
Direct material purchasing, evaluation, deselection, and audits.
Select and evaluate materials for assigned collections across formats for various audiences.
Analyze, evaluate, and make recommendations based on collection statistics and budget figures.
Hire, train, and manage the performance of Collection Librarians.
Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of the selection team meets or exceeds department standards.
Participate in departmental initiatives and help facilitate departmental projects and goals.
Contribute to organizational initiatives and goals and participate in professional activities
Prepare monthly reports of activity. Maintains and provides statistical reports monthly, annually, and as needed.
Create and maintain procedural documentation and instructions.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
Masters of Library Science (MLS) from an accredited ALA university or school.
Three to five (3-5) years of progressively responsible professional librarian experience, including collection management in a public library, required.
Three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred.
Direct customer service experience in a public library is preferred.
