We’re excited to announce that the Automated Materials Handling System (AMHS) sorting machines are now fully operational at all three of our buildings!
At this time, all items sent for delivery should have exterior barcodes or RFID tags to ensure smooth processing through the AMHS. If you need assistance with outside barcodes, barcode duplicator kits are available for loan—multiple kits can be borrowed today for a 60-day loan period. Please contact Colleen Dettenmeier at cdettenmeier@illinoisheartland.org for more information or to reserve a kit.
Additionally, transit labels will continue to be used while the barcode duplication project is underway. Once the barcode duplication project concludes, members will be asked to turn off transit labels. The current project is scheduled to end on December 31, 2025, though an extension is possible. Once the next steps are determined, we will communicate the plans with our members. Please note that when transit labels are turned off, members with branches and schools will still receive items with a small transit label indicating the destination branch. These receipts will be applied during the delivery sorting process.
