Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) will opened the nomination period for its annual series of achievement awards and grants.
Achievement awards for individuals and groups:
Isadore Gilbert Mudge Award, RUSA's highest honor, recognizes an individual who has made a distinguished contribution to the field of reference librarianship. $5,000* and a citation. Sponsored by Credo.
The DHAG program supports projects, with potential for broad impact, at different phases of their lifecycles that respond to one or more of these programmatic priorities:
· research and refinement of innovative, experimental, or computationally challenging methods and techniques
· enhancement, design, or maintenance of digital infrastructure that contributes to and supports the humanities, such as open-source code, tools, or platforms
The American Library Association (ALA) has more than $300,000 available to students who are studying in library science or school library media programs at the master's degree level.
Scholarships range from $1,500 to $7,000 per student per year. They include scholarships for students who are interested in Children's Librarianship, Youth Librarianship, Federal Librarianship, new media and Library Automation. In addition, there are also scholarships available for minorities, persons with disabilities and people who are already employed in libraries but do not have an MLS.
The Walmart Foundation will open the application period for its State Giving Program funding cycle on Monday, Aug. 29.
The Illinois State Historical Records Advisory Board (ISHRAB) is offering scholarships to Illinois archivists and archival volunteers to take the American Association for State and Local History's online "Basics of Archives" course.
To celebrate 25 years of "Giving a Voice to Literature," TEI Landmark Audio will award (25) $1,000 grants to support literacy for young people. All libraries are invited to participate in this grant opportunity, whether or not they are current customers. Grant awards will be announced on December 15, 2016.
Applicants must be a public or nonprofit community based organization (ex: library or school). Individual library branches within a larger system are welcome to apply. Funds must be used for children’s programming/children’s literacy programming.

We provide financial support and volunteers to a variety of community organizations and events throughout the communities we serve across five states.
The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) of the National Archives seeks projects that encourage public engagement with historical records, including the development of new tools that enable people to engage online. The NHPRC is looking for projects that create models and technologies that other institutions can freely adopt. In general, collaborations among archivists, documentary editors, historians, educators, and/or community-based individuals are more likely to create a competitive proposal.
