Showcasing a diverse range of contemporary titles that reflect many different voices and perspectives, the NEA Big Read aims to inspire conversation and discovery.

The mission of the Pilcrow Foundation is to provide new, quality, hardcover children’s books to rural public libraries across the United States.

The Foundation's Children’s Book Project grants support libraries located in a rural area within the 50 United States that have a limited operating budget and an active children’s department.

Through the program, a library's local sponsors can contribute from $200 to $400, which the Foundation matches on a 2-to-1 ratio. Thus, a library can receive up to $1,200 worth of new, quality, hardcover children's books.

IL State Historical Records Advisory Board Announces 2018 Historical Records Grant Program

Offered by the Illinois Secretary of State and the Illinois State Library these "Grant projects provide integrated, intensive instruction to improve the basic reading, writing skills, math or English language proficiency of parents and children together. Services include adult education, child education, parenting education, literacy-based, interactive, parent-child activities and library services."

Offered by the Illinois Secretary of State and the Illinois State Library, these "Grant projects provide instruction to help adults who read below the ninth grade level or speak English at a beginning level to improve their basic reading, writing, math, or English language proficiency. Services are provided through the use of trained, unpaid volunteer tutors."

Services are provided through a partnership between one business and an adult educational agency."
