The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) offers the Amber Brown Grant to commemorate author Paula Danziger. The grant is awarded annually to one school and includes a visit by a children’s book author or illustrator to encourage children and youth to read and connect them with creative influences.

Eligible applicants are prekindergarten through grade 12 public, private, charter, and parochial schools. SCBWI membership is not required. The school principal must support the school nomination. Applications must be submitted by postal mail.

Through their support for public education, Lowe's is closing the funding gap facing many schools today. Each year, the Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grants program contributes more than $5 million to fund improvements at public schools in the United States.

The Community Grants Program is the local grantmaking program at the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln. The program accepts funding requests for ANY charitable focus area in Cass, Christian, Logan, Macoupin, Menard, Montgomery, Morgan, and Sangamon County.

Multiple grant awards of up to $2,500 will be made from the Community Grants Program.

Applicants will be notified of the funding decision by early November.

Libraries Ready to Code is an initiative of the American Library Association, sponsored by Google, which aims to ensure libraries have the resources, capacity, and inspiration to embrace activities that promote computational thinking (CT) and computer science (CS) among our nation’s youth.

The Community Grant Program awards grants ranging from $250 to $2,500 through every local facility (Walmart Stores, Sam's Clubs, and Logistics Facilities). Applications may be received anytime before the deadline of Dec. 31. Eligible nonprofit organizations must directly benefit the service area of the facility from which they are requesting funding. Organizations applying must meet one of the following criteria:

The American Honda Foundation supports nonprofit organizations and educational institutions nationwide that address the areas of youth and scientific education. The Foundation's primary funding priority is youth education, specifically in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; the environment; job training; and literacy. Grants range from $20,000 to $75,000. The upcoming deadline for organizations that have never received funding from the Foundation is August 1, 2017.

The Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the communities where Lowe's operates stores and distribution centers throughout the United States. The Foundation’s Community Partners grant program supports nonprofit organizations and local municipalities undertaking high-need projects such as building renovations and upgrades, grounds improvements, technology upgrades, and safety improvements. Grants range from $2,001 to $100,000. Applications for the fall funding cycle will be accepted from July 3 to August 25, 2017.
