ALSC's Bookapalooza Program

ALA's Association for Library Services to Children's annual Bookapalooza Program selects three libraries to receive a collection of materials to help transform their collection, provide the opportunity for these materials to be used in their community in creative and innovative ways, and enhance their library service to children and families. Applicants must be personal members of ALSC as well as ALA.

Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood

The Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood is an incubator of promising research and development projects that appear likely to improve the welfare of young children, from infancy through seven years, in the United States. Welfare is broadly defined to include physical and mental health, safety, nutrition, education, play, familial support, acculturation, societal integration and childcare.

Coretta Scott King Book Donation Grant

Underfunded libraries, schools and non-traditional organizations that provide educational services to children are invited to apply to receive one of three Coretta Scott King Book Donation Grants. Every year, in the process of choosing the Coretta Scott King Book Award winners and honor books, the Ethnic and Multicultural Information Exchange Round Table (EMIERT) of the American Library Association receives multiple copies of approximately 60-100 titles by African American authors and illustrators.

Hour of Code Mini-grants

In advance of Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek), an annual event to get students excited about coding, ALA is opening a call for applications for $300 mini-grants to school and public libraries to facilitate an Hour of Code activity for youth using Google’s CS First Hour of Code activity.

 

Workplace Skills Enhancement Grant Program

Grant projects provide instruction at the workplace to improve the basic reading, writing, math skills or English language proficiency of employees. Services are provided through a partnership between one business and an adult educational agency.

Penny Severns Family Literacy Program

Grant projects provide integrated, intensive instruction to improve the basic reading, writing skills, math or English language proficiency of parents and children together. Services include adult education, child education, parenting education, literacy-based, interactive, parent-child activities and library services.
