Please note: This event is organized and led by library staff members, and IHLS cannot answer questions about the crawl. However, we encourage our public library members to participate! These resources are provided for your convenience.

5th Annual Library Crawl Information and Resources

The Annual Library Crawl is a unique event organized by the public libraries of Illinois Heartland Library System as a fun way to introduce your public library's patrons to the other libraries of the IHLS service area. Patrons visit area libraries throughout the month of the crawl and get a passport stamp at each library they visit. Some patrons have tried to visit every library in the crawl! The main purpose, though, is to help participants discover the many, many great resources available to them with their library cards.

Here you'll find some information and resources to get your library started.

Help Patrons Celebrate the 5th Annual Library Crawl with a Commemorative Pin!

Library Orders Due Sept. 5

For this 5th year of the Library Crawl, we are excited to announce the creation of a commemorative enamel pin, now available for gifting or for use as a fundraiser! This high-quality pin, made by Wizard Pins, features the 2023 Library Crawl logo and is made of die-struck and slightly raised metal filled with colorful enamel. The pin comes with a black PVC safety back.

With the help of IHLS, we are making these pins available to libraries now through 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, as part of a group purchase. Your library may choose to purchase any number of pins to gift or to sell to your Library Crawl participants—your choice. Pins are $2.66 each, plus shipping, and will ship directly to your library on or around Sept. 25. Our hope is to get them to your libraries before the start of the crawl! Pins sold to the public have a retail price of $6.

Because of our tight production schedule, orders must be received no later than 4 p.m. Sept. 5. Libraries will be billed by IHLS after the pins have shipped. For those planning to make pins available for purchase by the public, please indicate your intent on your order form; your libraries will be marked on the official Library Crawl map as a location making pins available to the public.
