IHLS Surplus Vehicles Grant

Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) is retiring five (5) well-cared-for surplus delivery vans at the end of 2020. To further portions of our mission, including supporting member libraries of all types in providing quality library services, facilitating access to shared resources, promoting innovation, and developing community partnerships, IHLS plans to grant these vehicles to member libraries to assist in their community outreach projects, especially those that expand Wi-Fi access within their communities.

FY2021 Illinois Public Library Per Capita and Equalization Aid Grants

The FY2021 Public Library Per Capita and Equalization Aid Grant application is a series of questions to determine the status of the library in relationship to “Serving Our Public 4.0 Standards for Illinois Public Libraries.”  Review the checklist at the end of each chapter to navigate the application and evaluate if the library meets, is making progress towards meeting, or does not meet each standard.

American Dream Literacy Initiative Grant

The American Library Association (ALA) and Dollar General Literacy Foundation invite public libraries to apply for grants to expand services for adult English language learners or adults in need of basic education and workforce development.

Up to 16 grants of $5,000 each will be awarded. Public libraries are eligible if they serve adult English language learners and are located within 20 miles of a Dollar General Store, distribution center or corporate office.

Live and Learn Construction Grant

The Office of the Secretary of State and the Illinois State Library are charged with administering two public library construction programs: the Live and Learn Construction Grant Program, and the Public Library Construction Act Grant Program. Each program operates under a separate set of rules unique to the statutory charge of the program, and each is applied for individually. A library cannot apply for both programs in the same award year.
