Public Library Construction Act Grant (PLCAG)

The State Library will be accepting applications for the PLCAG Program for fiscal year 2020.

This grant program assists public libraries with construction costs in their facilities. The State Library has been accepting applications for this program every year since the program’s inception in fiscal year 2012. To be considered for funding, applications must be submitted electronically to construct-grant@ilsos.gov and include all of the applicable required supporting documentation.

Project Next Generation

The Illinois State Library is currently accepting applications for FY21 Project Next Generation (PNG) grants.

PNG programs encourage personal growth and the educational development of at risk, middle to high school students through the use of mentors, technology and library based group projects. Public libraries that have completed the 2020 Annual Certification and are recognized by the State Library as a full member in good standing of an Illinois library system are eligible to apply.

Diversity Research Grants

The American Library Association (ALA) Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services (ODLOS) seeks proposals for the Diversity Research Grant program. Applications may address any diversity-related topic which addresses critical gaps in the knowledge of diversity, equity and outreach issues within library and information science.

The Diversity Research Grant consists of a one-time $2,500 award for original research. A jury of ALA members will evaluate proposals and select up to three recipients; the grant recipients will be announced before the 2020 ALA Annual Conference.

Game On! Grants

The Games and Gaming Round Table of the American Library Association is proud to unveil a new annual grant program to enable libraries to develop gaming programs or collections for their public. Through the new Game On! grants $500.00 will be available to be awarded either as one grant of $500 or two of $250 each to assist a library or libraries in developing gaming programs or collections for their communities.

ALSC's Bookapalooza Program

ALA's Association for Library Services to Children's annual Bookapalooza Program selects three libraries to receive a collection of materials to help transform their collection, provide the opportunity for these materials to be used in their community in creative and innovative ways, and enhance their library service to children and families. Applicants must be personal members of ALSC as well as ALA.

Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood

The Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood is an incubator of promising research and development projects that appear likely to improve the welfare of young children, from infancy through seven years, in the United States. Welfare is broadly defined to include physical and mental health, safety, nutrition, education, play, familial support, acculturation, societal integration and childcare.

Coretta Scott King Book Donation Grant

Underfunded libraries, schools and non-traditional organizations that provide educational services to children are invited to apply to receive one of three Coretta Scott King Book Donation Grants. Every year, in the process of choosing the Coretta Scott King Book Award winners and honor books, the Ethnic and Multicultural Information Exchange Round Table (EMIERT) of the American Library Association receives multiple copies of approximately 60-100 titles by African American authors and illustrators.

Resolve to Stay Active: A Fitbit Kit for Your Community

Resolve to Stay Active: A Fitbit Kit for Your Community supports public libraries or other community organizations which serve populations that are underrepresented in biomedical research in providing access to health technology and consumer health resources.
