Hour of Code Mini-grants

In advance of Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek), an annual event to get students excited about coding, ALA is opening a call for applications for $300 mini-grants to school and public libraries to facilitate an Hour of Code activity for youth using Google’s CS First Hour of Code activity.

 

Baker & Taylor/YALSA Collection Development Grant

Purpose:  To award $1,000 for collection development to YALSA members who represent a public library and who work directly with young adults ages 12 to 18. Up to two grants will be awarded annually.

Each application will be judged on the basis of:

--The degree of need for additional materials for young adults.

--The degree of the current collection's use and the specificity of examples used.

--The soundness of the rationale for the selection of materials.

Science Kits for Public Libraries

The IEEE Science Kits for Public Libraries (SKPL) Grant is offering up to $2,000 in funding to public libraries in the Midwest for the creation of circulating math and science collections. The grant seeks to be a catalyst for educating students about how math and science are used for the benefit of humanity and to provide seed money for the creation of a science kit collection that will make a lasting impression on the community.

Workplace Skills Enhancement Grant Program

Grant projects provide instruction at the workplace to improve the basic reading, writing, math skills or English language proficiency of employees. Services are provided through a partnership between one business and an adult educational agency.
