Diversity Research Grants

The American Library Association (ALA) Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services seeks proposals for the Diversity Research Grant program. Applications may address any diversity-related topic which addresses critical gaps in the knowledge of diversity, equity and outreach issues within library and information science. Proposals are due by midnight Pacific time on April 15, 2019. 

Bookapalooza

From the ALA website:

Each year the ALSC office receives nearly 3,000 newly published books, videos, audiobooks, and recordings from children’s trade publishers. These materials, primarily for children age birth through fourteen and are submitted to ALSC award and media evaluation selection committees for award and notables consideration.  After each ALA Midwinter Meeting in January, these materials (published in the preceding year) need to be removed from the ALSC office to make room for a new year of publications.1

Big Lots Foundation Grants

Big Lots Foundation funds support programs that will enhance the lives of children and families in the areas of hunger, housing, healthcare, and education. Priority will be given to programs serving women and children. Applicants must have a 501(c)3 public nonprofit status and be located in the United States near Big Lots stores or distribution centers. Accelerating Promising Practices for Small Libraries

From the Institute of Museum and Library services website:

The Institute of Museum and Library Services has launched a new special initiative, Accelerating Promising Practices for Small Libraries (APP), and is accepting grant applications now through February 25, 2019. This new funding opportunity is designed specifically to strengthen the ability of small and rural libraries, archives, and related organizations to serve their communities, and awards sizes range from $10,000 to $50,000.

NNLM Reading Club

From the National Institute of Health website:

The NNLM Reading Club is a selection of “ready-to-use” fiction and nonfiction book titles along with free and downloadable materials designed to help libraries support health literacy and their communities’ health information needs by celebrating important National Health Observances through the fun and intimacy of a book club.
