Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) is retiring five (5) well-cared-for surplus delivery vans at the end of 2020. To further portions of our mission, including supporting member libraries of all types in providing quality library services, facilitating access to shared resources, promoting innovation, and developing community partnerships, IHLS plans to grant these vehicles to member libraries to assist in their community outreach projects, especially those that expand Wi-Fi access within their communities.
The International Relations Roundtable is calling for proposals for its 2021 IRRT Mission Enhancement Grant. This grant was established by the IRRT to fund member-initiated proposals for international activities and initiatives which contribute to ALA’s role in international librarianship.
The Association of Illinois School Library Educators (AISLE) McCusker Professional Development Grant is designed to provide financial assistance to AISLE members who wish to participate in professional workshops, conferences and coursework related to the school library media profession each year.
A total of $2000 in McCusker Professional Development Grants will be awarded each year. If all funds are not expended in the initial grant cycle, a second reading date will be announced.
Illinois is releasing $50 million in funding for the second round of matching grants through Connect Illinois, the state’s $420 million statewide broadband expansion plan. This appropriation will begin to expand access to reliable, high-speed internet service statewide.

The American Library Association (ALA) invites library workers to apply for the inaugural Peggy Barber Tribute Grant, a programming grant named after the transformative ALA leader responsible for the creation of National Library Week and the Celebrity READ series.

The Libraries Transform Communities Engagement Grant is an annual grant to recognize, promote, and support innovative and meaningful community engagement efforts in libraries. Community engagement is the process of working collaboratively with community members – be they library patrons, residents, faculty, students, or local organizations – to address issues for the betterment of the community.
The Association of Illinois School Library Educators (AISLE) and the Library Book Selection Service (LBSS) Endowment Fund have announce a new pilot grant, Feed Your Need, which is designed to update sections of collections that are outdated or inadequate. This replaces the Read for Information Grant.
This grant is only available to school librarians who are AISLE members.
The American Library Association Publishing Committee provides a grant of up to $5,000 for the preparation of print or electronic reading lists, indexes or other guides to library resources that promote reading or the use of library resources at any type of library.
The grants are intended to cover preparation costs appropriate to the development of a useful product, including the cost of research. The grants do not cover the costs of final printing or online distribution of the product.
From the Graphic Novels & Comics Round Table (GNCRT) of ALA and the Will and Ann Eisner Family Foundation come two grants that recognize libraries for their role in the growth of graphic literature and award funds and resources for graphic novel collection development and programming.
