Social media is no longer optional for libraries. It’s where our communities already gather, learn, and discover. From promoting programs and services to sharing timely information and building trust, social platforms have become an essential extension of library work. That’s why we’re excited to introduce Scroll School, our new Social Media Lesson Series designed specifically for libraries and library staff.
What Is Scroll School?
Scroll School is a free, practical video lesson series created to help libraries feel more confident, creative, and strategic on social media. Each lesson focuses on a single topic or skill, breaking it down into clear, approachable steps that can be applied right away.
Lessons are short, focused, and realistic for busy library staff. Rather than chasing trends or relying on marketing jargon, Scroll School centers on what works for libraries and their communities.
Beginning in January 2026, we’ll release a new lesson every other week, sharing videos across our social channels, including Facebook, YouTube, and more platforms to come. Members can watch, revisit, and apply lessons at their own pace.
Why We’re Launching This Series
We hear from our members that social media can feel overwhelming. Platforms change quickly, best practices are constantly evolving, and many library staff wear multiple hats with limited time and resources. At the same time, expectations around online communication continue to grow.
Scroll School was created to meet members where they are. Our goal is to:
- Reduce the stress and guesswork around social media
- Share clear, up-to-date guidance tailored to libraries
- Encourage experimentation without pressure or perfection
- Help libraries use social platforms with intention and confidence
By offering consistent, bite-sized lessons, we hope to make social media learning feel manageable and even enjoyable.
How Scroll School Will Help Our Members
Scroll School is designed with real library challenges in mind. Through the series, members can expect to:
- Learn how to plan and create content more efficiently
- Better understand different platforms and how audiences use them
- Gain tips for writing engaging captions and choosing effective visuals
- Explore ways to highlight programs, collections, and services
- Build confidence showing up online as an authentic library voice
Whether a library is just getting started on social media or looking to refine an existing strategy, Scroll School offers practical takeaways that can be used immediately.
Learning Together, One Scroll at a Time
Social media is a powerful tool for connection, storytelling, and community building. With Scroll School, we’re investing in our members by providing ongoing support and education that grows alongside the platforms themselves.
We’re excited to learn, experiment, and scroll alongside you. Keep an eye on our social channels for the first lesson this January, and join us as we build stronger, more confident library voices online.
